The History of the Country Cookie Barrel
I began my business in the fall of 1996, while still holding an office job. I mainly did this for family and friends.
I became very busy and I knew I had to have my own shop with more space and I could be more organized. I wanted a shop that was country looking and yet my home away from home. My family and I built my shop and finished it in September 2001.
All that was left was the name of my business. The name, "The Country Cookie Barrel", came to me in a dream. It is so seldom that you wake up and remember a dream so I thought, this had to be. I am also state inspected with the PA Dept. of Agriculture. and a member of The Chamber of Commerce.
Most of my recipes are ones I have collected over the years. My sugar cookie recipe is one I used when my boys were little. My clothespin cookies and kolachi are my Slovak grandma's recipes..
I take pride in the fact that I don't make anything out of a box. My cookies are made to order and aren't made weeks in advance so customers can be assured they are the best quality.
My motto is that the cookies should not only taste good, but also look good.
